Scully

Dr. Bill Scully III, a native of Pittsburg, Kansas, is a dedicated member of our board of directors. Growing up in Pittsburg, he attended and graduated from Pittsburg Public Schools as part of the class of 1964. During his time at Pittsburg High School, Dr. Scully actively participated in various activities, including varsity football, track, band, choir, school plays, and debate. His leadership skills were recognized when he was elected vice president of the student body in his senior year.

After high school, Dr. Scully pursued higher education at the University of Kansas, where he joined the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and pursued a major in Journalism. It was during his time at the university that he developed a passion for producing and promoting live music events. In 1968, he decided to leave college and dedicated the next decade of his life to supporting nationally touring

recording artists. In 1978, Dr. Scully established and operated the highly successful Infinity Recording Studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, Dr. Scully also co-founded Diversified Environmental Industries, a development and construction company based in Crested Butte, Colorado. In 1982, along with his brothers, he created Missouri Heroes, Inc. and opened its first restaurant in Warrensburg, Missouri. Over the years, the company owned and operated multiple establishments in the region.

In a transformative decision, Dr. Scully chose to transition his career to public education in 1990. After obtaining his teaching credentials from the University of North Florida in 1984, he served as a dedicated classroom teacher of English and creative writing from 1992 to 1995. Driven by a commitment to further his knowledge, he obtained his master's and educational specialist degrees from the University of Central Missouri. Dr. Scully then ventured into school administration and earned his doctorate from the University of Missouri in 2004. For the next two decades, he served as a respected middle and high school principal, with his exceptional leadership skills earning him the prestigious title of Missouri's Principal of the Year in 2004.

Throughout his career, Dr. Scully actively participated in educational organizations and contributed to the advancement of school leadership. He served on the executive board of the Missouri Secondary School Principals Association for numerous years, eventually becoming its president in 2005. Dr. Scully's expertise and insights have been shared through publications in national educational journals and presentations at state and national educational conferences. His topics of expertise include school climate, networking for school leaders, middle-level school programs, and best practices in education.

Although Dr. Scully retired in 2017, his dedication to education continues. He currently serves as an educational consultant and substitute teacher. Dr. Scully resides in Lee's Summit, Missouri, with his wife, Alisa. They are proud parents of three children and loving grandparents to four grandchildren. In their leisure time, they enjoy traveling, spending time with their three schnauzers, attending family events, supporting the Royals and Chiefs sports teams, following KU basketball, and reconnecting with old classmates from Pittsburg High School.

Dr. Bill Scully has been the esteemed President of the 206 Fellowship Hall since its inception as a nonprofit organization, and his unwavering commitment has greatly contributed to its success.
